Why Designer Glasses Frames In Manhattan From Boutique Shops Remain Popular

byadmin

Even though people who need their vision corrected have more options than ever, many continue to buy stylish Glasses Frames in Manhattan from boutique shops. In fact, this particular option is becoming more preferable with so many attractive designs available today.

Shying Away From Laser Surgery

Laser surgery for correcting vision has increased in popularity but has not taken off the way eye doctors expected it would. People, in general, seem a bit skittish about having elective surgery on this part of their anatomy. In surveys, less than half the respondents who wear glasses say they would even consider laser eye surgery.

Giving up Contact Lenses

About six times as many nearsighted people wear glasses all the time compared with contact lenses. Contacts tend to be more popular among people in their 30s and younger. Eyes that become drier with age is a common problem, making contact lenses less comfortable. Some individuals simply get tired of the hassle of dealing with contacts for many years. With a wide variety of impressive Glasses Frames in Manhattan available, they know they’ll continue to look attractive while wearing spectacles.

Avoiding Cheap Discount Frames

Cheap discount frames are available from retailers, but many consumers would rather wear better products from well-known designers. They like the way they look in those frames that are provided at a store such as Charlotte Jones Opticians. They appreciate knowing that they are sporting a fashion accessory created by a talented and respected celebrity designer or endorsed by a celebrity.

Choosing Prescription Lenses for Age-Related Presbyopia

By middle age, most individuals start experiencing a certain level of trouble focusing up close. Even if they don’t need corrective lenses for nearsightedness, they must buy glasses to help them read and do other tasks requiring close-up vision.

Cheap non-prescription reading glasses are available in many stores, but lenses that precisely address the person’s degree of difficulty are better. In addition, a vision exam often finds a slight amount of nearsightedness that can be corrected with the same prescription lenses. That small amount of magnification for both problems makes a big difference in how well these people see.

Three dead in murder-suicide shooting at Southern California fast food restaurant

Sunday, June 20, 2010

A 6-year-old boy and his father were shot and killed Saturday afternoon while eating inside a busy Del Taco fast food restaurant in San Bernadino, California, before the shooter turned a gun on himself.

According to the San Bernadino Police Department, 56-year-old Jimmy Schlager arrived at the Del Taco at 1:15pm PST (2015 UTC) on a bicycle, and, armed with two semi-automatic guns, entered the restaurant and opened fire on a family of four who were dining together. The employees and other customers all ran out of the restaurant and escaped without injury.

The father of the family, identified as 33-year-old Alex Trujillo, was declared dead at the scene, said the San Bernadino Fire Department. His wife and two sons were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. His 6-year-old son, Adrian, died shortly after. The victims each suffered two bullet wounds, except the mother, who police say received up to ten gunshots. The names of the 29-year-old woman and her 5-year-old son have not been released. Both remained in critical condition on Saturday night.

After shooting the family, Schlager, later identified as the woman’s step-father, shot himself in the head. He was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he later died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police said Schlager had previously been arrested a number of times, on charges that included theft and assault with a deadly weapon.

Teen broadcasts suicide online

Sunday, November 23, 2008

A Pembroke Pines, Florida teenager killed himself Wednesday, November 19, while broadcasting on the live video site Justin.tv. After making suicide threats and being encouraged by Justin.tv viewers and Bodybuilding.com forum members, Abraham K. Biggs, 19, committed suicide by taking an overdose of opiates and benzodiazepine, which had been prescribed for his bipolar disorder.

Biggs first began blogging about his planned suicide 12 hours before the actual event. He died after taking pills and lying on the bed in front of the webcam. After the broadcast, viewers who apparently thought it was a hoax posted messages such as “OMG”, “LOL”, and “hahahah”.

Hours later, after being alerted by viewers who had noticed that Biggs had stopped breathing, law enforcement and paramedics arrived, discovered his body, and covered the camera. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office has reportedly confirmed Biggs’ death.

According to Montana Miller of the Bowling Green State University, the circumstances of this case were not shocking: “If it’s not recorded or documented, then it doesn’t even seem worthwhile. For today’s generation it might seem, ‘What’s the point of doing it if everyone isn’t going to see it?'”

Biggs’ sister Rosalind was angry that neither the website nor its viewers reacted soon enough to save him. “They got hits, they got viewers, nothing happened for hours,” she said. She described him as “very happy” and “friendly and outgoing.” “On a normal day, you couldn’t really tell that he got as low as he did.” However, he did have relationship problems with his girlfriend, according to a friend.

Mental health professionals have warned about the possibility that other mentally troubled people would copy his actions. According to Dr. David Shaffer of Columbia University, “Any video showing it as heroic or romantic or glamorous could reduce the anxiety people might feel about suicide. It becomes a respectable behavior and lowers the threshold of suicide.” He and other psychiatrists recommend that potentially suicidal teens talk to others and “tell what’s going on.”

Man arrested after attempting to break into Prince Charles’s home

Wednesday, January 31, 2007

Police were called to the Highgrove House, the home belonging to Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, on Tuesday night after police received a call that there was an intruder on the property.

“He was detained within the grounds and did not gain access to any buildings,” said a spokesperson for the police, Tony Rymer.

A spokesperson for the estate refused to comment to the media calling it “a matter for the police” and that any comments on the intrusion should be given through them.

According to a Gloucester Police spokeswoman, a man from Bristol, England was arrested after wielding a pitchfork around the property. The name of the 55-year-old has not been released, but police charged him with trespassing. He was later released after posting bail.

Camilla and Charles, who were both present and sleeping on the estate at the time, were not injured.

Mortgage Tips And Tricks

Submitted by: Michael Rad

Generally speaking, the better your credit the better your chances of getting a zero down payment home loan. Fortunately, mortgage lenders are now offering no money down home loans to homebuyers who have less than perfect credit. You may pay a slightly higher interest rate than those who put down ten percent or more, but you can still get a great interest rate and easy payments when you apply for a no-money-down home loan. You can expect to pay private mortgage insurance if your pay little or no money down on your new home, but the cost is relatively low and you will be able to drop the private mortgage insurance after you have built a certain amount of equity on your home.

If you do not have the resources to pay a twenty percent down payment, you could opt for a piggyback loan. A piggyback loan is basically a home equity loan that funds part of your down payment. There are several options in obtaining a piggyback loan. Mortgage lenders have a variety of programs and loan products that will help you accomplish your dream of home ownership, even if you have little or no money for a down payment. Your lender can also inform you of various government programs that assist those who qualify with their down payment. Most of these programs consist of basically a low interest loan that you repay along with your mortgage payments. There are some government programs that will not require you to repay any down payment assistance you may receive.

Get quotes: Different lenders may quote you different prices, so you should contact several lenders to make sure you’re getting the best price. You can also get a mortgage through a mortgage broker. Brokers arrange transactions rather than lending money directly; in other words, they find a lender for you. A broker’s access to several lenders can mean a wider selection of loan products from which you can choose.

Get Costings: Be sure to get cost information about mortgages from several lenders or brokers. Know how much of a down payment you can afford, and find out all the costs involved. Knowing just the amount of the monthly payment or the interest rate is not enough.

Ask each lender and broker for a list of its current mortgage interest rates and whether the rates being quoted are the lowest for that day or week.

Ask about the mortgage’s annual percentage rate (APR). The APR takes into account not only the interest rate but also broker fees and certain other credit charges that you may be required to pay, expressed as a yearly rate.A mortgage often involves many fees, such as underwriting fees, broker fees and closing costs. Every lender or broker should be able to give you an estimate of its fees. Many of these fees are negotiable. Some fees are paid when you apply for a mortgage and others are paid at closing. In some cases, you can borrow the money needed to pay these fees, but doing so will increase your loan amount and total costs. “No cost” loans are sometimes available, but they usually involve higher rates.

Negotiate: Once you know what each lender has to offer, negotiate for the best deal that you can. There’s no harm in asking lenders or brokers if they can give better terms than the original ones they quoted or than those you have found elsewhere. Once you are satisfied with the terms you have negotiated, you may want to obtain a written quote from the lender or broker. The quote should include the rate that you have agreed upon and the period the quote lasts. When buying a home, remember to shop around, to compare costs and terms, and to negotiate for the best deal.
